Kelli Wommack
Pastor of Leadership Development

I was raised in southern Harris County and felt the call to ministry in my rural church at the age of 18. I hold a B.A. in Communications and a Masters of Theological Studies, and have more than 20 of experience in various roles of ministry. I have championed CCC's volunteer ministries as SERVE director for eight years and developed a curriculum titled “Gifted to Serve” to help volunteers find their ministry niche. I now spearhead our leadership development process, in which we train and equip our staff and leaders. I have been married to Chris, a family physician, for 24 years, and find much joy in our two teenagers, Bekah and Ryan.
Life verse: 2 Corinthians 12: 9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
Favorite foods: Banana Split Blizzard from Dairy Queen. I also enjoy ethnic foods, especially Mexican and Thai, and I love homegrown vegetables and anything my hubby puts on the grill. He is a grill master!
Favorite movie: “Sweet Home Alabama” – because I love a great romantic comedy, especially one that contains a Southern drawl and some Southern charm.
Hobbies, pastimes and interests: I love being with people doing anything really, but especially having coffee or lunch. (Invite me!) I love my husband and kids and enjoy being with them. Other interests include reading, writing, Bible journaling, Zumba, football, the beach, listening to music of all kinds, and watching HGTV and Netflix.
Ambitions / aspirations: I want to be the best wife and mom I can be. I love to teach/speak/preach – whatever you want to call it – and would love to do that more often. I have always wanted to write a book and got really close to being published, but it was not the right season. At the end of the day, I really just want to love God, love others and develop people through discipleship, leadership development and teaching God’s Word.
What I like to read: All things related to leadership development and spiritual growth, and anything by Brene Brown.
People are surprised to know: I served as a campus minister in Georgia (Augusta State) and Alabama (Jefferson State) for five years. And I can be really silly! (Well, maybe no surprise there.)
Best counsel / advice I ever received: “Don’t apologize for or minimize who God created and called you to be. You are unique and necessary.” Spoken by several mentors over the years.
My staff role at CCC: As pastor of Leadership Development, I serve our staff and our leaders by developing curriculum and offering training to equip them to lead well and develop other leaders. I also serve on our Senior Leadership Team. In addition to that, I am on the Pastoral Care team and our Teaching Team. My role in Serve Ministries includes overseeing the Gifted to Serve team, the FACE team (greeters), and our Special Events team. I am passionate about empowering others to discover and live out their calling.
What I enjoy most about serving at CCC: I love seeing people realize who God created and called them to be and seeing them walking out that calling for His glory. It’s also just plain fun!
