I was born in San Antonio, Texas at the Air Force base. We moved to north Georgia when I was very young. From that time, my parents pastored Assembly of God churches for most of my life. I worked side by side with them, exposing me to all aspects of ministry. After three years of youth pastoring, I met the love of my life, Dewayne, at a youth convention. I had just taught two classes on "Being a Bride in Waiting" when I beheld the blessing before my eyes. We have been married for more than 25 years and have four wonderful children.

I went to school for Business Administration and Cosmetology, and cut hair for almost four years. I stopped to raise our children and served by my husband's side while in ministry for around 10 years. Since that time I have owned a successful wedding/event planning service that keeps me very busy, as well as working part-time here at CCC.

Life verse: Romans 8:38 – “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Favorite foods: Anything Italian and saucy!

Favorite movie: “Pride and Prejudice” (Kiera Knightly version).

Hobbies, pastimes and interests: I don’t have much time for hobbies, so I have made sure that I do my hobby for a living. I love to plan events and design and decorate.

Ambitions / aspirations: I have four!  1) After years of thinking of myself and how I would save the world, it all boils down to this: I want to see all of my four children in a passionate, fruit-bearing relationship with Christ, as well as whomever their spouses end up being. So I pray for and encourage them. 2) I desire to help and support my husband’s dreams of building a thriving worship school that will reproduce his heart of worship in young people. He is my inspiration. 3) Niche finding! I spent many years in the church without an outlet for my creative gifts. I desire to find creative people who are lost in our church crowd and help create platforms for their giftings. This brings glory to God and fulfillment to that person. I love this! 4) One day, I want to take a 10-day Viking Cruise through Europe with my sweetie pie.

What I like to read: I’m a creative who mostly likes pictures. However, I do love the way John and Lisa Bevere write. One of my favorites is “The Bait of Satan.” I also love “Worship, the Pattern of Things in Heaven” by Joseph Garlington.

People are surprised to know: I once flew a cropduster aircraft in South Georgia.

Best counsel / advice I ever received: From our marriage counselor:  “Jodie, you’re going to need to get in the back seat and let Dewayne drive.” It was a hard ugly truth, but it was the thing that has kept us together and happy for over 25 years! (I actually think I’m really good at backseat driving now.)

My staff role at CCC: As Creative Arts Director, I design and oversee our stage sets and backdrops, as well as plan events and decorate the venues.

What I enjoy most about serving at CCC: I love the grace and mercy shown here from the leadership down. I love that we are touching lives in our Judea, Samaria and the uttermost parts of the world. I love the rich sound teaching that comes from the pulpit every Sunday. I love that our leadership is transparent and is not afraid to be so. But the thing I love the absolute most is that our fearless leader releases people to do what they’re called to do. Dewayne and I have served many pastors in the 30-something years we’ve been in ministry. I have never seen a pastor who trusts the gifts that God places in people and desires to see them in operation like our leadership does. This is a blessing to this church that means more to me than I could ever express. If we all search out what our God-given gift and purpose is and put it into action, we would see our city and state and even country changed for God’s glory.
