Haley Borin
Director of Communications
haley@ccclive.org

Picture
I was raised in Ellerslie, GA and have lived in this area my entire life. After graduating high school in 2009, I attended Columbus State University and now hold a B.A. in professional writing. I met my husband, Will, at CSU through Cougars for Christ, an
on-campus ministry. We married in 2012, and just one week later, decided to jump into ministry. We have one daughter, Wren, who is a fiery 4-year-old. We also have two rescue dogs affectionately known as Aqua Pants and Alexander, the Great (Alex for short)!

In 2014, I began working for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc.’s marketing and communications team. After almost four years, I moved into the education realm with Muscogee County School District’s communications team. It is my hope and prayer that this role will afford me the opportunity to use my gifts and experience to tell the stories of God’s people and to “awaken ordinary people into extraordinary life through Christ-centered community.” My family and I have a deep love and passion for seeing lives in this city forever changed!

Life verse: John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that they may have life abundantly.” I love this verse because I have battled fear my entire life. The only thing greater than my fear has been the Lord’s kindness towards me, coaxing me into a deeper relationship with Him.

Favorite food: I am a pizza fiend; however, my more “refined” tastes include any type of salmon or Mexican cuisine.

Favorite movie: How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carrey version). As a Christmas fanatic, I watch this movie year-round. I once played the Grinch in a high school play.

Hobbies, pastimes and interests: Growing up, I was a dancer and a theatre kid. I once played the Wicked Witch of the West in our high school’s version of The Wizard of Oz. (Totally uncharacteristic of me, of course). I was also a bookworm and actually had a poster of Edgar Allan Poe in my room … creepy! I spent many summers on Lake Harding with my family waterskiing and boating. My current hobbies include blogging, drinking copious amounts of coffee and spending time with my little one. I’m also a Words with Friends enthusiast.

Ambitions/aspirations: I want to be a mom and a wife who constantly points her family back to Christ. Also, I would love to write a book and start a podcast someday!

What I like to read: I like to read non-fiction, particularly autobiographies that depict the intersection of the Lord's goodness with the struggles of ordinary lives.

People are surprised to know: I once was on a jump rope team and double-dutched. I’m also left-handed and have dabbled in radio broadcast.

Best counsel/advice I've ever received :  "Don't let the 'what ifs' rob the life from your reality."

My role at ccc: Responsible for printed and digital communications, including weekly bulletin and e-news, website, blog, social media, sermon podcasts and videos, fliers and brochures, and photography.

What I enjoy most about serving at CCC: I am so grateful that I get to use the gifts and passions that God has given me to tell the stories of His people and to draw others into a deeper connection with Him and the body.
