Cedric Hill
Director of CONNECT Ministries
cedric@ccclive.org

I am a native of Columbus. After graduating from Columbus High School in 2010, I attended Morehouse College for undergrad, after which I moved to Houston, Texas to pursue a doctorate at Rice University. I began feeling a slight nudge that maybe God had a different purpose for my life than I’d planned. That nudge would continue to grow until I made the decision to end my time in graduate school after just a year. I started to work at a high school, tutoring students in Algebra, a time in which I would first hear my call to ministry. I started my first of three years as an intern at Lakewood Church not long after, which would develop and cultivate that call more than I could imagine and teach me what it meant to truly do the work of ministry. I moved back to Columbus in 2019 and prior to coming on the CCC Staff, I was helping my parents manage their small businesses. I’m excited to be apart of the Connect Ministry because developing and maintaining healthy relationships with others in our church community is so essential to our lives as believers.
Life verse — “‘Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?’ Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40

Favorite foods — Pizza always.

Favorite movie — I watch so many it’s hard to pick! A few favorites: Whiplash, Short Term 12, Inside Man

Hobbies, pastimes and interests — Reading, watching sports, going to the movies, practicing guitar, traveling when I can

Ambitions / aspirations — Right now, my biggest ambition is to do the job of Connect Pastor with excellence. Another ambition that has been present as long as I can remember is to be an author someday.

What I like to read — I read a lot of fiction; mostly fantasy, literary fiction, teen fiction and I’ve been growing to like some nonfiction as well; memoirs, essays, short stories. I like books about the Bible too! I love N.T. Wright because he has such a powerful way of helping the reader see the scriptures in a new and fresh way.

People are surprised to know — That I have a Bachelors in Physics!

Best counsel / advice I ever received — If you want to become a great leader, become a great servant.

My staff role at CCC — My main role as Connect Pastor is to develop and champion the Connect Ministry, which consists of all of our small groups. As the church, Jesus called us to be unified with one another and small groups are a great way to see that unity happen, as well as provide an ideal environment to develop our faith with others in our church community.

What I enjoy most about serving at CCC — CCC is such a wonderful environment of grace, kindness, and openness, filled with wonderful people. It’s a great privilege to be apart of such a ministry!
